# Feature and data requests

[Canonical page](https://portraitresearch.com/documentation/more/custom-prompt-build/)

## Applicability

- **Task:** Explain a missing capability or source to the Portrait team
- **Access:** Public; an account may be required to implement a request
- **Audience:** Portrait users and admins
- **Surfaces:** web
- **Availability:** Production support
- **Content type:** support
- **Last reviewed:** 2026-09-08

Tell Portrait what you need to research and what is missing. Email [support@portraitresearch.com](mailto:support@portraitresearch.com) to suggest a feature, request a data source or company, or ask for help turning a recurring question into a reusable prompt.

## Request a feature or prompt

Describe the task you want to complete, what you can do today, and where you get stuck. For a reusable prompt, include an example question and the kind of answer or report that would be useful. Mention whether the request is for you or a wider team.

## Request a company or data source

Name the company, source, document type, or period you need. Add a public example link if you have one and explain how you would use it. If a source exists but your account cannot access it, check [Availability and access](https://portraitresearch.com/documentation/reference/availability-and-access/) first; it may require a separate entitlement.

## What to include

A short example is more useful than a long specification. Include the relevant companies and dates, the result you expected, and what is missing from the current result. Remove confidential material from examples you email. Do not send passwords, API keys, access tokens, or private research files.

## What happens next

Portrait will assess the request and may suggest an existing tool, help refine the prompt, or discuss additional coverage. A request does not guarantee implementation, a delivery date, or access to a licensed source.
