# Settings and your account

[Canonical page](https://portraitresearch.com/documentation/more/settings/)

## Applicability

- **Task:** Find account, usage, connection, and archive controls
- **Access:** Portrait account for product settings
- **Audience:** Portrait users and admins
- **Surfaces:** web
- **Availability:** Production support
- **Content type:** reference
- **Last reviewed:** 2026-09-24

Open **Settings** from your name at the bottom of the left navigation, or from the Command Center in the web app.

## General

Review the active organization and account email, and choose the web app's light or dark appearance.

## Usage

**Settings → Usage** shows the applicable credit balances and periods. **Normal usage** distinguishes credits used, reserved for Monitors and Scheduled Research, and available for more work. **Mosaic usage** tracks Mosaic research and Easel work started from Mosaic separately.

Read [Usage and limits](https://portraitresearch.com/documentation/more/usage/) for the calculation, organization budgets, renewal dates, and what happens when work is refused. For trial and full-research estimates, see [Mosaic usage and estimates](https://portraitresearch.com/documentation/mosaic/usage/).

## Connections

Connect a FRED API key to use supported macro series in [Charts](https://portraitresearch.com/documentation/charts/charts-overview/). Confirm the connection in Settings before building a macro chart. Follow the removal confirmation shown by the interface when disconnecting it.

## Archived projects

Archived Projects are excluded from active lists and selectors, although a saved direct link can still open their detail page. **Unarchive** restores the Project and its archived Monitors, with estimated ongoing Monitor usage registered again. Review restored Monitors: Web sources removed during archiving are not restored automatically.

The archive view also offers permanent deletion. This removes the Project's Deep Research, legacy chats, Monitors and their content, saved charts, and legacy Project notes that have no other Project. Easel conversations and uploaded files survive with their Project links removed. Read the [Project archive and deletion table](https://portraitresearch.com/documentation/documents/projects/) before confirming; permanent deletion cannot be undone.

## Sections that depend on your account

The overlay can also show **Legacy data** when a legacy archive is available, and **Legacy chats** for accounts with full Easel access and saved conversations without a Deep Research report. Their absence is not evidence that content has been deleted. For saved conversations, follow [Find and continue legacy chats](https://portraitresearch.com/documentation/more/legacy-chats/).

A conditional section in the interface does not establish availability for another account or surface. If an expected section is missing, use [Troubleshoot access](https://portraitresearch.com/documentation/more/troubleshoot-access/).

## Elsewhere in the user menu

* **Portrait MCP** — connect Claude, ChatGPT, or another AI client. See [Portrait MCP](https://portraitresearch.com/documentation/integrations/portrait-mcp/).
* **Keyboard shortcuts** — shortcuts available in the current web app.
* **Support assistant** — ask a question about using Portrait and get an answer in the app.
* **Send feedback** — report a bug or request something; attach a screenshot where the capture control is available and it helps.

For anything else, [contact the team](https://portraitresearch.com/documentation/more/contact-us/).

## Scheduled Research and MCP connections

Eligible accounts show their standing **Scheduled Research** authorization within **Connections**, alongside separately enabled **MCP** provider cards. Start or restart scheduled authorization from the task when prompted; verify that the task shows **Active** afterward. There is no separate current Scheduled settings section to find.

Read [Scheduled Research](https://portraitresearch.com/documentation/scheduled-research/overview/) and [MCP inside Easel](https://portraitresearch.com/documentation/integrations/mcp-in-easel/) for setup and failure recovery.
