Bring the numbers, company disclosures, expert perspectives and internal work behind an investment question into your research. Portrait combines financial data and research sources with your own material, company intelligence and reusable analyst context.
Company disclosures and management commentary
Research SEC filings, annual and interim reports, financial statements, earnings releases, shareholder letters, proxy statements, investor presentations and corporate event transcripts. Compare reported performance, management guidance and Q&A across companies and periods.
Sources include SEC EDGAR, company reporting from Quartr, and transcripts and presentations from S&P Capital IQ.
Financials, consensus and operating metrics
Examine revenue, earnings, margins, cash flow, balance sheets, leverage, returns on capital, dividends and share repurchases. Visible Alpha adds actuals and consensus estimates, company-specific and segment line items, and revision history. Disclosures and research can add the operating metrics, guidance and business drivers behind the numbers.
Use the financial and qualitative evidence to compare peers, investigate a thesis and assess the assumptions in your own models.
Markets, macroeconomics and ownership
Bring daily prices and trading volume, market capitalisation, enterprise value, shares outstanding, FX and earnings dates into the analysis. Compare valuation multiples and selected ETF benchmarks, and use FRED series for inflation, interest rates and economic activity.
Investigate institutional 13F portfolios, position changes and company holders. Supported ownership views also cover beneficial-ownership disclosures and ETF portfolios.
News, expert perspectives and the live web
Follow company and industry developments through FactSet StreetAccount news, Third Bridge expert research, podcasts and web sources. Podcast discovery uses Listen Notes, with selected episodes transcribed for research. Supported Easel MCP connections can bring in additional perspectives, including BIA TransparencyAI research on management communication.
Use these sources to test management commentary, investigate industry developments and identify evidence relevant to the investment case.
Your research and connected content
Bring investment memos, thesis notes, meeting and call notes, financial models, portfolio tables, broker and industry reports, and presentations into My Library. Work with PDFs, Word documents, Excel workbooks, slides, text files and structured tables, and save new research for reuse.
For Outlook mail and OneDrive or SharePoint files in Easel, check Microsoft 365 availability with Portrait. Organise company groups and related research in Projects, and keep selected analyst and company context in editable memory.
Put your research to work in models, memos and presentations
Bring Portrait’s financial research into the Excel models, Word investment memos and PowerPoint presentations you work on. Open a file in Portrait and work with Easel alongside it, from investigating the evidence to updating the deliverable.
Update financial models in Excel
Investigate how your model works and test its assumptions against reported results and consensus. Ask Easel to update reported figures or revise the inputs you specify. Explore scenarios with the model’s available inputs and inspect recalculated results in the workbook.
Write and refine investment memos in Word
Ask Easel to draft a memo from your research or develop one you already use. Incorporate new evidence, sharpen the investment argument and update the risks or conclusions, with changes directed to the sections you select.
Revise investment presentations in PowerPoint
Work from your existing deck. Ask Easel to update the analysis, revise a slide or address comments on a selected area as you prepare for the next investment review.
Select a passage, worksheet range or slide area and describe what should change. Review the revised file, save a new version and return to earlier versions when needed.
Delegate the recurring work behind your coverage
Give Scheduled Research the companies, investment questions, files and research procedures you want Easel to work on while you are away. It can investigate new evidence, compare it with earlier findings and produce the next update for your review.
Prepare earnings previews and post-results analysis, commission a morning coverage brief or a weekly Word research note, and set up recurring checks and updates to your models and presentations.
Easel carries task context and earlier findings forward between runs. Choose your cadence or each company’s earnings timetable, receive separate updates or a daily earnings summary, and ask to be notified when a run finds something worth your attention. Saved answers, source links and files give you work to inspect and take forward.
Research that builds on your work
Use company primers to understand business models, products, customers, suppliers, geographic exposure and financial performance. Quarterly research adds earnings recaps, timelines, investment debates and bull and bear cases.
Reuse previous reports and answers, apply research procedures through Skills, and follow selected signals and sources with Monitors. Financial charts and reusable chart definitions help carry comparisons into further analysis.

Questions about sources, accuracy and your research
What research sources does Portrait use?
Portrait combines SEC filings, US and international company reports, earnings and event transcripts, investor presentations, news, expert research, podcasts and the live web with your own material. Sources include S&P Capital IQ, Quartr, FactSet StreetAccount, Visible Alpha, Third Bridge and FRED. Supported Easel MCP connections can add research from providers such as BIA TransparencyAI.
What financial and market data can I work with?
Explore reported financials, analyst consensus, company and segment metrics, estimate revisions and valuation. Bring daily prices, trading volume, FX, earnings dates, macroeconomic series and ownership disclosures into the analysis alongside company reporting and your own models.
How does Portrait reduce hallucinations?
Portrait addresses hallucination risk through evidence retrieval, source attribution and preservation of financial context.
Research instructions require factual claims to be grounded in material actually consulted, with attribution, reporting periods, units and material qualifications preserved. Missing or stale information must be made explicit. Document citations can include supporting passages for inspection. Controls for financial inputs include explicit labelling of actuals and estimates, while quantitative screening filters are evaluated mathematically against retrieved data.
These controls support review of the evidence and financial inputs behind a conclusion. Source access and display depend on entitlements and licences. Generated research can contain errors, so material figures, quotations and conclusions should be checked in their original context.
Do you have accuracy data?
Yes. Portrait's internal evaluation work spans the research process, covering evidence retrieval, extraction fidelity, numerical accuracy, citation support and research completeness. These dimensions are assessed separately because finding relevant information, representing it accurately and reaching a supported conclusion are distinct research requirements.
Financial evaluation criteria include numerical values, units and scale, reporting periods, company and speaker attribution, and the distinction between historical results and forward-looking statements. Citation evaluations examine whether a passage supports the associated claim. Evaluations of research quality assess relevant coverage, material omissions, treatment of uncertainty and conclusions that extend beyond the supplied evidence.
Methods include direct comparisons with source material and model-based grading, including sampled research outputs. Findings inform retrieval, model and prompt choices. Results are specific to the task, dataset and configuration evaluated and do not establish a single overall accuracy rate for Portrait.
Can I analyse and update my own files?
Yes. Open an Excel model, Word document or PowerPoint presentation in Portrait and work with Easel alongside the file. Ask it to investigate model assumptions, develop your investment memo or revise a presentation. Select a passage, worksheet range or slide area to direct the changes, then review and save the revised file for further work.
Can I inspect earlier versions?
Inspect previous saved versions of your files and restore an earlier one while keeping the version history. Bring the saved work back into further research with Easel.
Can I schedule research around a file?
Yes. Define a recurring brief for Easel around your companies, investment questions and files. Scheduled Research can prepare earnings reviews, produce coverage notes, revisit thesis evidence and update or check models and presentations while you are away. It builds on task context between runs and saves work for your review. Choose the timing, sources, deliverable and when to be notified.
Can I connect Outlook, OneDrive and SharePoint?
Where Microsoft 365 is enabled for your account, connect a Microsoft work or school account to search and read permitted Outlook emails and OneDrive or SharePoint files in Easel. Use that working material alongside Portrait's research sources and the context you bring to the investigation.
Can Portrait work with my firm's proprietary data?
Custom Deployments combine Portrait's research capabilities with your proprietary data, investment framework, source priorities and access controls. Portrait's Engineering and Product teams build and maintain the connectors and workflows agreed with your firm.
