Scheduled Research

Scheduled Research

Last reviewed

Scheduled Research runs a saved Easel instruction while you are away. Use it for a recurring investigation, such as reviewing your portfolio every Monday and summarizing material changes with supporting evidence.

Choose the right recurring workflow

Workflow What repeats Where to begin
Scheduled Research Easel carries out your saved research instruction on a calendar schedule, around selected companies' earnings dates, or once at a chosen time Create a scheduled task
Monitors, including scheduled briefs A defined company or topic scope is evaluated for configured signals and sources Create a Monitor
Scheduled Screening A saved set of company filters runs again Run and schedule screens

These workflows have separate states, usage, and notification rules. A Monitor's Pause/Resume control changes notifications; pausing Scheduled Research stops future task runs, requests cancellation of in-progress work, and retains its recurring credit commitment.

Requirements and supported surfaces

Your account must have Scheduled Research enabled and an eligible usage-based plan. Full Easel access or a positive credit balance alone does not establish eligibility. A separate authorization lets Portrait run as your user and organization while you are away. Missing feature access and missing authorization are different problems.

Use the web app to create and manage tasks: open Scheduled near the top of the left navigation. Supported iOS versions can open a task's run history and answers; that does not imply that every task creation or management screen is available on mobile.

Scope and persistence

The saved instruction defines the work you authorize. Include the companies, sources, time window, expected result, and any paid or state-changing work you intend. A recurring instruction is not permission for unrelated work. A run can finish with an explanation of incomplete or blocked work; a successful start alone does not prove the research finished.

Portrait keeps task outputs and continuity in the protected Scheduled Research area of My Library. Continuity carries task-specific context between runs. It is separate from analyst memory, which a run reads and may add dated lines to, tagged (scheduled), for the company the run is about (a daily summary adds only to the Profile). Renaming a task does not create a new continuity identity.

Verify and recover

Check the task's saved instruction, status, next scheduled time, and most recent run. A draft is not running. A completed run, an in-app notification, an email, and a delivered attachment are separate outcomes. See Manage tasks and credits and Notifications and troubleshooting.
