Easel can retain selected analyst preferences and company conclusions as editable notes across sessions. This is saved memory, separate from conversation history, Project Research instructions, and a scheduled task's continuity. It does not mean every message or every conclusion is automatically remembered.
Where memory lives
In the web app, open My Library → Memory. The Profile note stores working preferences; companies contains company-specific notes such as an investment thesis, position, or rejected idea. A company note is associated with the company's identity, so a rename or ticker change does not by itself create a different memory.
At session start, Easel receives the saved profile and an index of companies with memory. It reads individual company notes as needed. An existing session's startup context is not a live mirror of every later edit; ask Easel to read the current note before relying on or changing it.
Update and verify
- Ask Easel to show the current profile or relevant company memory, or inspect the note in My Library on web.
- State the specific change you want retained, preserving other still-valid information.
- Check the returned change and reread the resulting note. A proposed change is not proof that it was saved.
Each save replaces the whole note, with a check that it has not changed since it was read. If another edit arrived first, Easel must read the latest note, merge your intended change, and save against that current version. Do not force an old copy over newer work.
The profile has a 2 KiB text budget and each company note a 4 KiB budget. These are byte limits, so non-ASCII text can reach the limit before the same number of characters. Keep durable conclusions concise; save long research in ordinary files and notes.
Scheduled Research and other context
Scheduled runs read memory and follow the same rule as interactive sessions, so most runs save nothing. A run can update the Profile and the notes of companies it researched itself. An Around earnings run is about one company, so it can update only that company's note besides the Profile. The daily summary of an earnings task set to One summary per day updates only the Profile. Easel dates each line a run adds and tags it (scheduled), and the run's answer ends with a short Memory note showing the change. Check it in the task's run history or reread the note in My Library → Memory, and edit or remove any line you do not want. Change a thesis deliberately in an interactive Easel session and verify it there. Per-task continuity in Scheduled Research is separate: it carries what that recurring job needs between runs.
Reopening a conversation gives access to that conversation's retained context; it does not imply that all other conversations are loaded. To reuse a conclusion in another conversation, ask Easel to remember it in the company's memory note, ask it to save a write-up to My Library and reference that item with @, or restate the conclusion in your message. Associating work with a Project does not automatically apply that Project's Deep Research instructions to Easel. Where a memory note offers Version history, it shows saved file versions, not a complete log of every memory operation; inspect the current note before changing or restoring it.
Troubleshoot
If memory is absent, no note may have been saved yet; ask Easel to read it before asserting that it was lost. If startup loading failed, a direct memory read can establish the current state. For a conflict, merge the latest content. For a size refusal, shorten the note without discarding unrelated conclusions. If a scheduled run saved a line you do not want, edit or remove it in My Library, or ask Easel in an interactive session to correct the note.
