Easel

Research, documents, and market data

Last reviewed

Easel selects supported sources based on your request. The available source set depends on the connected user, firm entitlements, workflow, and surface. Slack, Teams, email using a linked Portrait account, and CLI require full Easel access on the connected Portrait account. On the CLI surface, the account must also be enabled for the Easel CLI bridge.

Source documents

Easel can search supported SEC and foreign filings, earnings transcripts, investor presentations, news, and entitled expert-call content available to the connected account. A response can include inline source attribution or citations where the provider and licence permit display or linking. Search coverage is not guaranteed to be exhaustive.

Full licensed news articles are not redistributed, so Easel uses searchable excerpts for news. Easel can use Third Bridge content that your account is allowed to read; availability and display remain subject to the account's licence.

Market data and time series

For pricing and valuation questions, Easel pulls daily price history with period changes, plus market-cap, enterprise-value, and shares-outstanding snapshots. It can also fetch numeric time series from Portrait's data-series catalog — FRED macro series, Visible Alpha fundamentals, S&P market data, and computed multiples — and chart them.

Company relationships and ownership

Easel can read a company's supplier, customer, and competitor graph (available for widely-covered companies), and Form 13F institutional-ownership data — manager portfolios, position changes, and a company's holders.

When a question reaches beyond Portrait's corpus, Easel can search the live web. Inspect the returned links and verify that they are primary sources before relying on the result.

Your existing Portrait research

Easel can read supported Portrait objects that the connected account can access, including projects, past research threads, case studies, company primers, and monitors. Reference the relevant object explicitly when the requested context would materially affect the result.

It can also propose supported workflows such as a screen, a monitor, or a Deep Research run. Portrait requests confirmation when the target workflow requires it; review scope and usage consequences before approving.
