The web app's primary destinations appear in the left navigation. It collapses to a narrow icon rail and expands to a labelled panel.
The left navigation
Top — where you start work.
- Ask Easel — ask a research question or continue a conversation. See Easel overview.
- Search — opens the Command Center (see below).
- Inbox — what changed since you last looked, with an unread count. See Inbox.
Tools — research, charts, screening, and monitoring.
- Deep Research — scoped reports with a Portrait Review and supporting Appendix. See Deep Research overview.
- Charts — build charts from fundamentals, valuation, macro, estimate-revision, and entitled Company Data series. See Charts overview.
- Screening — apply quantitative and qualitative filters to a company universe. See Screening overview.
- Monitors — ongoing coverage of your thesis. See Monitors overview.
Enabled accounts can also show Mosaic here, and Scheduled (Scheduled Research) in the top group, below Ask Easel. These entries depend on account access; they are not a universal workspace layout. If an expected tool is absent, check Availability and access.
Reference — what Portrait and you have already built.
- Companies — the company catalog. Open a supported company for its available Primer, Case Study, relationships, documents, and associated research. See Company Research overview.
- My Library — your files, notes, prompt templates, and Easel skills. See My Library.
Projects — your recent projects, with a + to create one. See Projects.
Command Center
Press Ctrl + K (⌘ K on a Mac), or click Search, to open the Command Center. One box searches your projects, Deep Research reports, Easel conversations, legacy chats, monitors, screens, and companies — and runs commands, so you can start a new screen or open settings without hunting for the button. Ctrl + P (⌘ P) goes straight to company search.
Settings and the user menu
Your name at the bottom of the navigation opens the user menu: Settings, Portrait MCP, Keyboard shortcuts, User Guide, Support assistant, and Send feedback.
Settings opens as an overlay, with General (organization, email, light/dark appearance), Connections (FRED, plus account-enabled Scheduled Research authorization and Easel MCP providers), and Archived projects. Depending on account capabilities and saved content, it can also show Usage, Legacy data, and Legacy chats. Restoring or deleting a Project has effects on its research and Monitors; review Settings before acting.
For a saved Quick Chat thread, follow Find and continue legacy chats. In this guide, that help is under Account & support.
The Keyboard shortcuts dialog lists the shortcuts available in the current web app. Check it instead of relying on a copied list that can become outdated.
