Charts and chart templates are in beta. They are available in the web app; individual series still depend on source connection, coverage, and entitlement. A template stores a reusable chart definition. Company-bound series become parameters; macro series and fixed market indexes can remain part of the template.
Company Data cannot currently be used in chart templates. Build and save a company-specific chart instead when that category is required.
Create and edit a template
- Create a template from the editor in new-template mode. Define the layout the same way you build a chart, then save it.
- Edit a template you own to update its name and chart definition. System templates are available to use but cannot be edited in place. To customize their result, save a chart from the template, edit that chart, and use Save as template for your own reusable definition.
- Duplicate or delete your own templates from the library pane. Portrait asks for confirmation before deletion; deleting a template is permanent and cannot be undone.
Use a template
Open a template from the library pane and supply any company parameters it requires. Review missing or substituted series before saving the resulting chart into a Project.
The saved charts are independent copies of the template's definition. Editing or deleting the template later does not update or remove those Project charts. A template also does not grant access to the data it references; check the destination companies' coverage, source entitlement, and any Visible Alpha display limit.
Verify and recover
Reopen each resulting chart in its destination Project and confirm the companies, series, transforms, axes, and period. If using a template reports an error, check the destination before repeating the action: some charts may already have been created. See Build a chart to edit a saved result, copy it to another Project, or troubleshoot an inaccessible Project.
