Monitors

Manage a Monitor

Last reviewed

Choose the action by the effect you need. Email settings, ongoing monitoring, and Inbox visibility are separate controls. The web app exposes the complete supported source editor; iOS controls vary by version and expose a narrower source set.

Intended effect Action Consequence
Reduce or stop emails Change Email alerts; use Pause or Resume where shown on iOS Changes notification delivery. Evaluation, Inbox updates, and estimated ongoing usage continue
Change what is monitored Edit the companies, signals, and supported sources Changes future coverage and can change estimated ongoing usage
Remove entries from your feed Use Inbox deletion Hides entries for you; leaves the Monitor and its original results in place
Stop ongoing monitoring Use Delete monitor in the web Monitor actions and confirm, or the archive action where offered on mobile Removes the Monitor from active coverage and ends its ongoing usage commitment; there is no undo action in the individual Monitor interface

Edit and verify scope and usage

  1. Open the Monitor and its settings.
  2. Review its companies, signals, sources, email settings, and Project before changing them.
  3. Edit the fields required by the new task, then reopen the Monitor to verify the saved configuration.
  4. Check Settings → Usage after a scope change. Adding companies, signals, or sources can increase the ongoing estimate. An accepted edit is not confirmation that it fits the available credits: existing Monitor edits do not use the same budget-refusal check as new Monitor creation.

A company-scoped Monitor can contain up to 100 companies. Importing companies from a Project copies the list at that moment; later Project membership changes do not update the Monitor automatically. Check the copied list whenever coverage changes.

For company-free coverage, use the supported topic Monitor options. Its Morning and Evening settings choose email cycles; neither choice stops the other evaluation cycle.

In the web editor, removing the last company converts an existing Monitor to company-free coverage; adding the first company converts it back to company-scoped coverage. If emails are enabled, conversion selects Morning for company-free coverage or Daily for company-scoped coverage. Off stays off. Recheck the saved sources, email setting, and ongoing usage after conversion. Conversion to company-free coverage starts its document-processing window at that time; it does not backfill earlier documents as ordinary updates.

Conversion does not automatically remove source settings inherited from the previous scope. Review those settings before and after changing scope; a retained setting is not evidence that the source supports the new scope.

Podcast coverage starts when enabled

Where Podcast Monitors are enabled for the account, the source applies to company-scoped Monitors. Ordinary monitoring starts from activation: creating a Monitor with Podcasts, or turning Podcasts on for an existing Monitor, starts its episode window at that time. It does not backfill ordinary alerts for older episodes.

Turning Podcasts off removes that source's progress; turning it back on starts a new window at the later activation time. This is separate from the background material in Initial context. To investigate older episodes, use Deep Research with a publication period when Podcasts are enabled for that workflow.

Stop a Monitor

  1. Export any updates or summaries you need before removing the Monitor.
  2. In the web app, open Monitor actions → Delete monitor and review the confirmation.
  3. Confirm, then verify that the Monitor is no longer in the active list and check Settings → Usage for the ended commitment.

This action archives the Monitor for product use. It is not a promise that all stored records are physically erased, and the individual Monitor interface provides no undo. The archived Monitor and its results are no longer available through the normal Monitor and export views. Muting email or deleting Inbox entries does not have this effect.

Archiving or restoring a Project can also affect its Monitors. Review Project archive and restore behaviour before changing a Project to solve a Monitor problem. In particular, restoring a Project can reactivate monitoring and its ongoing usage; recheck sources and delivery afterwards.

If the result is unexpected

  • Emails stopped but Inbox keeps updating: check whether you muted alerts. That leaves monitoring active.
  • A source change appears not to apply: reopen the Monitor to confirm its saved settings, check source access, and inspect the source attribution of subsequent updates.
  • No updates appear: clear filters, check the Monitor's active state and source scope, and allow initial context to finish where shown. No captured match is not proof that nothing relevant happened.
  • A change or removal reports an error: reopen the list and Settings → Usage before retrying. If the active state or ongoing commitment remains inconsistent, contact support with the Monitor URL and the state shown.

Add companies in bulk

The desktop company selector offers ticker import. It merges and deduplicates against the existing selection, with at most 100 companies per Monitor. Read partial-lookup and overflow warnings and verify the saved list. Existing companies are preserved when imported details cannot be loaded; retry missing entries instead of replacing the entire selection. See Import a company list.
