Charts Overview

Charts is Portrait's data-visualization builder. You pick a data category, add one or more series, and the editor renders a live line or bar chart. Finished charts are saved into a project, where they live as cards you can reopen and edit.

ℹ️ Charts is in beta and enabled per account. If you do not see it in the left navigation and would like access, contact the team. Charts is included — it does not use research credits.

The four data categories

Every chart is built from a single data category, so all of its series come from the same source:

Category Source Examples
Fundamentals Visible Alpha Revenue, EPS, margins
Valuation S&P, Visible Alpha Price, market cap, enterprise value, P/E
Macro FRED CPI, interest rates, GDP
Revisions Visible Alpha How consensus estimates have moved

Fundamentals and Valuation series are bound to a company (Valuation can also be bound to a market index). Macro series stand alone.

Access requirements

Two categories depend on access you set up yourself:

  • Macro (FRED) requires you to connect a free FRED API key in your settings. The editor prompts you to connect one the first time you pick Macro.
  • Estimate Revisions requires a Visible Alpha subscription.
