Easel decides which sources to reach for based on what you ask. You do not pick tools — you describe the question, and the agent assembles the answer from across Portrait's data.

Source documents

Easel runs semantic search across the full document corpus in a single pass — SEC filings, foreign filings, earnings transcripts, investor presentations, news, and Third Bridge expert calls — and reads the relevant passages to reason over them. Answers come back with inline citations to the underlying source. Where you ask for an image from a filing or a slide, it can pull that page out as a picture.

A note on licensing: full news article text and some expert-network content are not redistributable, so Easel works from the searchable excerpts of those sources rather than reproducing the whole article.

Market data and time series

For pricing and valuation questions, Easel pulls daily price history with period changes, plus market-cap, enterprise-value, and shares-outstanding snapshots. It can also fetch numeric time series from Portrait's data-series catalog — FRED macro series, Visible Alpha fundamentals, S&P market data, and computed multiples — and chart them.

Company relationships and ownership

Easel can read a company's supplier, customer, and competitor graph (available for widely-covered companies), and Form 13F institutional-ownership data — manager portfolios, position changes, and a company's holders.

Web search

When a question reaches beyond Portrait's corpus — recent events, primary-source confirmation, industry color — Easel searches the live web and cites the primary sources it used.

Your existing Portrait research

Easel can read what you have already built in Portrait: your projects, past research threads, case studies, company primers, and monitors. That means you can ask it to extend a thesis you are already tracking, or to fold a monitor's recent signals into a fresh write-up, without re-establishing context.

It can also start new work for you — a screen, a monitor, or a Deep Research run — and will confirm the exact configuration with you before launching anything.
