Starting & Resuming a Session
Copy for agent
Start a new session
Click Ask Easel in the left navigation. The landing screen shows a composer — Ask Easel anything — with your Recent conversations below it. Type your request and send it; the session is created the moment you send your first message. Ctrl + Shift + E (⌘ ⇧ E on a Mac) starts one from anywhere in the app.

If this is your first time, Easel opens with a short guided tour to orient you before you start your own work.
Follow the agent's progress
As Easel works, the conversation streams in real time:
- Your message and the agent's written response, with inline citations and any charts it generates
- A live activity log naming the current step — Planning the response, Using tools, Writing the response — each with an elapsed timer
- Occasional context-compaction notices when the agent summarizes earlier steps to keep working on a long task
The composer accepts plain text. Press Enter to send, Shift + Enter for a new line, and Esc to cancel a turn that is running. Use Add files to attach something mid-session and Reference a document (or press @) to point Easel at an item in your library.
A footer shows the session's context window usage and run time, alongside your monthly credits and remaining Easel sessions. Context-window usage is the session's working memory — not your billing usage; View all usage opens the usage settings.
Resume a past session
Every conversation is saved under Recent conversations, where you can search, reopen, or delete them. Click a session to pick it back up — an active session reattaches in place, and a paused one resumes from its saved state.

Reopening a session is the only way to resume it; an old direct link to a closed session will start fresh instead, and prompt you to choose the session from Recent conversations.
