Easel Skills

Copy for agent

A skill is a written procedure Easel follows when the work calls for it: how you like an earnings call summarized, the checklist you run on a new name, the format a weekly note has to land in. You write it once, and every session that needs it applies it — so you are not restating your standards in every prompt.

Skills live in the Skills category of My Library, and they appear only on accounts with Easel.

Write a skill

From the Skills category in My Library, use the + menu:

  • New skill — write the procedure directly in Portrait, the same editor as a note.
  • Upload skill — bring in a Markdown or text file you already have.
  • New subfolder — group related skills.

You can also just ask Easel to write one for you — "write a skill for how I want quarterly recaps done" — and it will draft the procedure and save it to your Skills.

Writing a good skill

Treat it as instructions to a capable analyst who has never seen your process.

  • Say what the output should contain and in what order, not just the topic.
  • Name the sources to check and the ones to ignore.
  • Include the judgment calls: what counts as material, what to flag, what to leave out.
  • Keep one skill to one job. Several focused skills beat one long document.

Using a skill

Easel reads the skills relevant to a request on its own. You can also point it at one explicitly — mention the skill with @, or name it in the request.
