Create a Monitor
Copy for agent
Monitor key developments and thesis signposts to stay ahead of company-specific events and market shifts. Portrait continuously scans filings, transcripts, and news to surface targeted, context-rich updates that confirm or challenge your thesis.
Open Monitors under Tools in the left navigation and choose New monitor (Ctrl + Shift + M, or ⌘ ⇧ M on a Mac). There are two ways to build one.
Let Portrait draft it
Pick a company, describe what you want to watch, or do both — then let Portrait propose the monitors. It reviews the available source material for that company and comes back with suggested monitors as cards you can edit, keep, or dismiss.

This is the fastest route, and it is usually worth starting here even when you know exactly what you want — the suggestions surface signals you might not have thought to write.
Build it manually
Build it manually walks you through the same configuration step by step:
- Monitor specific companies or Monitor topics or events — the second option creates a Scheduled Brief, which has no company list.
- Which companies should Portrait watch? — add them individually or copy in a project's companies (up to 100).
- What should trigger an update? — one signal per line, in plain language, for example "Management lowers guidance".
- Choose sources — the document types to evaluate, plus news and web.
- Delivery — Real-time, Daily digest, or Weekly digest.
- Name and save, optionally into a project.

Both routes end at a review screen — take a last look before the monitor starts running; everything there is still editable.
