What Is Easel
Easel is your autonomous AI equity analyst. Where Quick Chat answers a single question and Deep Research runs a fixed report pipeline, Easel is a conversational agent that plans and carries out multi-step investigations on its own — searching Portrait's document corpus and the live web, pulling market data and Visible Alpha consensus estimates, reading your case studies, primers, and monitors, and synthesizing the result into analyst-quality deliverables.
You will find Easel in the left navigation as Agent. It is currently in beta.
ℹ️ Easel is in beta and enabled per account. If you do not see an Agent entry in the left navigation and would like access, contact the team. Easel sessions count toward your monthly research usage, the same as Deep Research.
What makes Easel different
Easel chains steps that a single prompt cannot: search filings, pull the numbers, compare them against estimates, and write up the finding, all in one turn, while streaming its reasoning and activity so you can follow along.
What Easel can do for you:
- Run multi-step research from a single natural-language request — answering ad-hoc questions about a company, filing, transcript, or peer set, or working through a longer investigation, pulling the documents and reasoning as it goes
- Search and read SEC filings, foreign filings, transcripts, presentations, news, and expert calls — plus documents you upload and mention with
@— with inline citations - Search the live web and cite the primary sources
- Pull daily prices, market-cap / enterprise-value / shares-outstanding snapshots, and Visible Alpha consensus estimates and revision history
- Launch other Portrait features on your behalf — Deep Research, screens, and monitors — and read back your past research, case studies, and company primers to extend work you are already tracking
- Hand back finished deliverables — written reports and memos, charts, and spreadsheets — saved to My Documents and exportable to PDF
